Due to naturally evolving marine conditions, in recent years Jimbaran Bay has emerged as a surfing destination in Bali; with changeable water conditions in the bay, some days and seasons the surf breaks can be ideal for surfing. With the Bay’s sandy ocean bottom and relatively calm waters, the conditions are advantageous for beginners. Please note that surfing conditions in the Bay are dependent on the tides, full moon and wave forms. However, Rip Curl’s expert attendants will advise and regularly update its surf timetable.
Rip Curl hosts introductory one-hour surfing lessons, including Little Ripper lessons geared towards children, as well as private instruction and hourly surf board hire for soft top and Apoxy boards. For more experienced surfers, Rip Curl can organise traditional fishing boats to take you to the outer reefs in the bay, sail or drive to other parts of the island for bigger surf breaks and swells.
An increasingly popular water sport in Bali, stand-up paddle boarding is ideal in the Bay’s calm waters. Rip Curl organises one-hour SUP instruction sessions on the beach, or you can hire out a board by the hour.
The calm Bay waters are great for sea kayaking. You can hire single or double sea kayaks by the hour. Additionally, Rip Curl provides fishing tackle for use on the kayaks so you can indulge in fishing while paddling around the Bay.
Jimbaran Bay is perfect if you wish to learn and pursue body boarding (sometimes known as Boogie boarding), and is ideal for beginners and children. Rip Curl organises one-hour body boarding sessions, or you can hire them out by the hour.
Working with sister branches across the island in Legian and Sanur, Rip Curl offers water sports activities such as wake boarding, open-water diving, kite riding and wind surfing, when conditions more suited to the activities cannot be offered in Jimbaran Bay. Rip Curl provides all transfers and equipment logistics in various packages.
In conjunction with InterContinental Bali Resort, Rip Curl also offers Day Passes for in-house and outside guests, giving everyone an opportunity to freely use the water sports centre and resort facilities for the day.
